Yvonne Ridley

Yvonne Ridley
Yvonne Ridley is a revert and became a Muslim in 2003, three years after her release from imprisonment by the Taliban.

Television
In 2003, Ridley was dismissed from her position with the Qatar-based TV station Al-Jazeera due to her "overly-vocal and argumentative style". Her appeal against unfair dismissal was successful. In 2008, she won her case for unfair dismissal from the Islam Channel. Ridley currently works as a freelance presenter/reporter for Press TV.

On Sayyed Qutb:
"Our modern day heroes include the sixties martyrs Malcolm X and Sayyed Qutb . Both whose writings have helped define me as a Muslims. These are the role models our youth ought to follow, but instead they receive mixed and confused messages."
